Jama Connect Interchange Help

Configuring conversations

Specific to the ReqIF module, each conversation represents a one-time or ongoing ReqIF exchange for a given dataset in Jama Connect with a given exchange partner, such as a vendor, supplier, customer, or separate internal team.

  • Use the same conversation for multiple back-and-forth exchanges of the same set of requirements, even subsequent versions of those requirements.

  • Create a different conversation any time you plan to exchange a different set of requirements, even if the exchange is with the same partner.

Process: exchanging ReqIF files between systems

  1. A user on the third-party requirements management (RM) tool creates a set of requirements and sends it to a Jama Connect user as a ReqIF or ReqIFz file.

  2. The Jama Connect user creates a conversation and imports the ReqIF data. Jama Connect Interchange uses the SPEC-OBJECT Identifier from the imported file to create the corresponding item in Jama Connect.

  3. From the same conversation, the modified data is re-exported as a ReqIF or ReqIFz file.

  4. Subsequent modifications to the previously imported ReqIF data are re-imported to the original system.

Throughout this exchange process, the same SPEC-OBJECT Identifier is maintained, allowing updates to requirements to flow smoothly between the two systems.
