Jama Connect Interchange Help

Configuring Datatap

Jama Connect Datatap is a secure data export service for Jama Connect Cloud. It exports your Jama Connect data in a structured format to a dedicated SFTP location for downstream reporting, analytics, and data retention needs.

Datatap is designed for teams that need regular access to large sets of Jama Connect data outside the application. Instead of making frequent high-volume API calls, Datatap delivers scheduled file-based exports that are compatible with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Key details
  • Datatap delivers exported Jama Connect data on a regular schedule.

  • Delivery is secured through the use of SFTP and SSH key-based access.

  • Datatap is available for Jama Connect Cloud environments.

  • Jama Connect Datatap is part of the Jama Connect Interchange product umbrella and requires the Datatap module to be licensed and enabled for your organization.

Important considerations
  • Only Jama Connect Interchange Admin users can access and submit the Datatap request flow.

  • Your organization must be licensed for the  Datatap module before the Datatap option appears in Jama Connect Interchange.

  • Paste only a public SSH key into the form. Do not provide a private key.

  • SSH key must be entered as text; SSH key file upload is not supported.

Activating Datatap

After you license Datatap, a Named Support Contact at your organization must submit a request to activate the daily exports.

Before submitting the request, make sure you have:

  • The Datatap module licensed for your organization.

  • Jama Connect Interchange Admin access and Named Support Contact status.

  • Your Jama Connect URL.

  • A business email address.

  • A valid SSH public key, ready to paste into the request form as text. To request an SSH key pair, follow the instructions in Generate SSH keys for service-managed users.

To request setup:

  1. Sign in to Jama Connect Interchange as an Admin user.

  2. In the header, select Datatap.

  3. Start a new Datatap request.

  4. Enter the required information, including your Jama Connect URL, business email address, and SSH public key.

  5. Submit the request.

Jama Connect Interchange generates a support request with the information you provided. After a successful submission, a confirmation message is displayed. Jama Software then reviews your request, validates your identity as the requester, and finalizes the enablement process. When setup is complete, you receive an email with the necessary Datatap/SFTP connection details to access the system.
